Seco Singers entitled "Time," made billboard's top ten.
Lofton Left the Pozo Seco Singers in 1967 and began
performing solo with such acts as Tony Joe White of "Polk Salat
Annie and Rainy Night in Georgia" fame. He then performed for
seven months at the World's Fair, performing for over a million
people during the fair.
After the World's fair, Lofton moved to Los Angeles
and signed a record contract with Bill Cosby's label, "Tetragramaton."
One month later he was drafted into the United States Army. After
18 months of military service, he returned to Los Angeles and signed
with MCA Records as an independent producer/artist.
When Opryland USA opened in Nashville, Tennessee,
Lofton was asked to be one of its first performers. Also, while
singing at Opryland, Lofton was asked to perform on the "Ralph
Emery Show."
Always in demand for private parties, Lofton provided
entertainment for such special functions as John Connally's presidential
fund-raising campaign; state legislator John Newcome's party; the
National Cattleman's Association Convention in Steamboat Springs,
Colorado; the King Ranch's annual Quarter Horse and Cattle Sale;
the National Beef Master's Cattle Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana;
and was the guest performer with the San Antonio Symphony during
